Ingredients
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon sriracha (optional for spice)
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Flour tortillas
- Shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes for serving
Instructions
- Soak the shrimp in buttermilk for about 30 minutes to maximize flavor and tenderness.
- Mix cornstarch, salt, and pepper in a separate bowl.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat.
- Dredge the shrimp in the cornstarch mixture, ensuring they’re evenly coated, then fry them in the hot oil. Cook for about 2-3 minutes per side or until golden and crispy.
- Whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha (if using), and lime juice to create the bang bang sauce.
- Assemble the tacos: Place crispy shrimp onto flour tortillas, drizzle with bang bang sauce, and top with shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes.
- Serve warm and enjoy your taco fiesta!
Notes
Store leftovers separately to maintain crispiness. Store shrimp in an airtight container for up to 2 days, and reheat in the oven. Frozen shrimp can be used, just ensure they are thawed.
