Description

A comforting and nostalgic dessert featuring tender apples and a sweet, cinnamon-infused batter.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups sliced apples
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice in a large bowl. Mix thoroughly and let sit for about 15 minutes.
  3. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Stir in the melted butter and buttermilk until just combined.
  4. Pour the apple mixture into a greased baking dish and spread it evenly across the bottom.
  5. Pour the batter over the apples, spreading it with a spatula for even coverage.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool for a few moments before serving warm. Enjoy!

Notes

Best served warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
