Description

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • Sliced almonds (for decoration)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. Cream the softened butter and sugar together until the mixture turns light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Pour in the milk and almond extract, and stir until combined.
  5. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into your prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  7. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form while the cake cools.
  9. Once the cake has completely cooled, frost it with the whipped cream and sprinkle sliced almonds on top for decoration.
