Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- Sliced almonds (for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Cream the softened butter and sugar together until the mixture turns light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Pour in the milk and almond extract, and stir until combined.
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Pour the batter into your prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form while the cake cools.
- Once the cake has completely cooled, frost it with the whipped cream and sprinkle sliced almonds on top for decoration.

Notes
For a nut-free version, replace almond extract with vanilla. For best results, make sure your ingredients are at room temperature.
