Description
Crispy skin, juicy meat, and a sticky-sweet barbecue glaze make these air fryer BBQ chicken legs a quick and flavorful dinner.
Ingredients
- 8 chicken legs (drumsticks), pat dry for best crisping
- 2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/3 cup prepared BBQ sauce
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (if your model requires preheating).
- Mix the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl.
- Drizzle the chicken legs with olive oil and rub it over all sides.
- Season on all sides with the spice mixture, pressing it on so it adheres.
- Arrange drumsticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket/tray, leaving a little space between pieces.
- Cook at 400°F for 10 minutes.
- Flip the chicken legs and cook 10 minutes more at 400°F.
- Baste with BBQ sauce on all sides.
- Return to the air fryer and cook 3 minutes more at 400°F, or until fully cooked.
- Rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Pat the drumsticks dry before oiling for better browning. Don’t crowd the basket and use a thermometer for accurate cooking.
