Description

Crispy skin, juicy meat, and a sticky-sweet barbecue glaze make these air fryer BBQ chicken legs a quick and flavorful dinner.

Ingredients

  • 8 chicken legs (drumsticks), pat dry for best crisping
  • 2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/3 cup prepared BBQ sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (if your model requires preheating).
  2. Mix the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl.
  3. Drizzle the chicken legs with olive oil and rub it over all sides.
  4. Season on all sides with the spice mixture, pressing it on so it adheres.
  5. Arrange drumsticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket/tray, leaving a little space between pieces.
  6. Cook at 400°F for 10 minutes.
  7. Flip the chicken legs and cook 10 minutes more at 400°F.
  8. Baste with BBQ sauce on all sides.
  9. Return to the air fryer and cook 3 minutes more at 400°F, or until fully cooked.
  10. Rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Pat the drumsticks dry before oiling for better browning. Don’t crowd the basket and use a thermometer for accurate cooking.
