Description
A simple yet delicious meatloaf topped with a sweet-tangy glaze, perfect for weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
- 1½ pounds ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 1 large egg
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup dried bread crumbs (plain or Italian)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ⅓ cup ketchup (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons prepared mustard (yellow or Dijon)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, milk, bread crumbs, and egg. Season with salt and pepper, and mix until just combined.
- Press the meat mixture evenly into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top.
- In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Spread over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake for about 1 hour, or until no longer pink in the center and the internal temperature reaches at least 160°F.
- Let rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Consider using sautéed onions for added sweetness and adding Worcestershire sauce for umami flavor. Leftover meatloaf is great in sandwiches!
