Prep Time: 2 min
Cook Time: 2 hr on HIGH (or 3–3.5 hr on LOW)
Total Time: 2 hr 2 min
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 2 × 300 g (10 oz) packs fresh tortellini (four-cheese or your favorite flavor)
  • 2 × 500 g (17 oz) jars tomato pasta sauce
  • 240 g (2 cups) grated cheddar & mozzarella blend
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp dried basil, plus more for garnish

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Layer the sauce. Spray your slow cooker lightly with oil. Pour in half of one jar of tomato pasta sauce.
  2. Add pasta. Scatter one pack of tortellini evenly over the sauce.
  3. Season & cheese. Sprinkle half the garlic powder, then top with half the cheese.
  4. Repeat layers. Add remaining sauce, tortellini, garlic powder, and cheese. Finish with dried basil on top.
  5. Cook. Cover and cook on HIGH for 2 hours or LOW for 3–3.5 hours, until pasta is tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve warm. Spoon onto plates, garnish with extra basil, and serve with salad or garlic bread.

Pro Tips

  • Prevent sticking: Coat the slow cooker base with nonstick spray before adding sauce.
  • Add spice: Stir in ½ tsp chili flakes for a subtle kick.
  • Make it creamy: Replace half the tomato sauce with Alfredo sauce or stir in 3 Tbsp cream cheese at the end.
  • Add-ins: Toss in baby spinach during the last 15 minutes, or layer cooked chicken, tuna, or roasted veggies between tortellini layers.
  • Storage: Refrigerate leftovers up to 3 days, or freeze up to 3 months. Reheat gently in microwave or oven until hot.
